People for Animals, Bangalore was launched in 1996, by Namrata Dugar, Alpana Bhartia, Gauri Maini and Arushi Poddar, who were the pioneers. The last ten years saw the setting up of an animal hospice in Kengeri, with clinical and recuperative facilities for wounded, sick and displaced mammals, reptiles and avians.

To date, four thousand mammals, avians and reptiles have been treated back to health in the hospice, and rehabilitated back to their natural habitats.
